Real World Training For Everyday Dogs

Serving Venice and all of Southern California

I help you get clear, consistent results with your dog without overcomplicating the process. Training that actually makes sense and actually lasts.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all program or a rigid system I force every dog into.

Every dog is different. Every home is different. So the training has to reflect that.

The goal is simple. Get your dog to understand you, and give you a clear way to handle things moving forward. Not just during training, but in your day-to-day life.

WHO WE ARE

DOG TRAINING IN VENICE, CA

Every dog is different, and so is every situation. The way we train should reflect that.

I offer a few different ways to work together depending on your goals, your schedule, and what your dog actually needs. Whether you’re dealing with basic obedience or more challenging behavior, the focus stays the same. Clear communication, consistency, and results that hold up at home.

  • This is my core program and where most clients see the best results.

I work with your dog during the day while you’re busy, building structure, consistency, and clear communication. Then I show you exactly how to maintain it so things don’t fall apart when I’m not there.

This approach works especially well for busy owners who want real progress without trying to figure everything out on their own.

  • This is a more immersive option where your dog stays with me and gets consistent, daily work.

It’s a good fit for dogs that need a stronger reset, more structure, or a more focused training environment. I only take a limited number of dogs at a time so the work stays consistent and individualized.

  • Private lessons done with you and your dog together, usually in your home.

For new puppies and young dogs before problems start. We come to your home and build the foundation — engagement, name response, leash skills, crate training, house manners.

ABOUT JOHN

A smiling man in a black hoodie and a black cap with a dog training logo is sitting outside a storefront with large glass windows, behind him various cars are parked and a person wearing a red cap can be seen in the reflection.

I’ve been working with dogs for over 25 years, long before I ever turned it into a business.

For most of that time, I was just helping people. Friends, neighbors, referrals. Someone had an issue with their dog, my name got passed along, and that’s how it grew.

Before this, I was a fashion photographer in New York. Completely different world, but it taught me how to read situations fast and pay attention to details most people miss. That carries over into how I train.

After losing my home in the Malibu fire and moving to Venice, I took a step back and decided to do this full time. It was the one thing that always made sense.

This business wasn’t built on marketing. It was built on people getting real results and telling other people about it.

HOW THIS STARTED

There wasn’t some big plan behind this.

It came from a lot of change happening at once. Losing the house in Malibu, moving, my son heading off to college. It made me rethink what I actually wanted to spend my time doing.

I kept coming back to the same thing. Working with dogs and helping people figure things out with them.

So I stopped treating it like something on the side and built it into what it is now.

REAL RESULTS FROM REAL DOG OWNERS

This usually sounds familiar…

  •  Your dog listens when it’s easy, but not when it matters

  •  You’ve tried things before and nothing really sticks

  •  You don’t have the time to be consistent with training

  •  You’re not always sure what to do in the moment

  •  You just want it to feel easier living with your dog

If that’s where you’re at, you’re not the only one. And it’s fixable.

“I first heard about John Arborio through a neighbor I met while walking two incredibly well-trained Cane Corsos. These giant Italian mastiffs moved in perfect sync, one on each side of their owner—calm, controlled, and deeply impressive. It was such a striking sight that I had to ask who trained them. That’s how I was introduced to John.

John went on to work with my lively pair of standard phantom poodles, and the transformation has been remarkable. Thanks to his thoughtful approach, steady guidance, and one-on-one training, they now follow commands effortlessly and are a joy both at home and out on the trails.

I can’t recommend John Arborio highly enough—for his affability, consistency, and, most importantly, his results.”

“John completely transformed my dog and my relationship with her. I came in dealing with some very Pomeranian behaviors (read: stubborn, no recall, and fully convinced she was in charge), and he handled it with a calm, practical approach that actually worked.

He doesn’t just “train your dog”—he teaches you how to communicate with them in a way that actually works. My Pom is still her spunky self, but now she listens, feels more at ease, and our daily life is so much more enjoyable.

You can tell John genuinely cares about the dogs and the people he works with. I’m beyond grateful I found him.”
